Another Safety Warning

We talked about how exposure to PBCs in fish can contribute
to diabetes in Guys, Eat Green for

. Today, the American
Medical Association has announced results of a study
linking arsenic in drinking
water to type 2 diabetes. The risk for diabetes quadruples with just a low level
of arsenic in water, raising eyebrows and becoming a cause for concern.

Public water systems are currently undergoing changes to
meet more stringent arsenic standards, but since these findings come after
studying low arsenic levels, perhaps even stricter regulations are in order. In
the meantime, remember that tap water is generally safer than bottled, and
always use a filter.
